Types of Boots: The Ultimate Guide to Choosing the Best Ones

Types of Boots: The Ultimate Guide to Choosing the Best Ones

In the universe of women’s footwear, there is a category within boot styles that stands out every season for its versatility, durability, and aesthetics. Boots are part of urban looks, pair well with minimalist styles, add strength to more classic outfits, and follow trends that change year after year without losing their essence. Interest in learning about the different types of women’s boots has grown with the variety of designs available and their role in the wardrobe, which goes far beyond winter. As each model is designed for a different lifestyle, way of dressing, and level of comfort, understanding what each one offers is essential to making the best choice. In this article, we explore the category and the most relevant types of boots among current trends, helping you identify their differences and what each model offers so you can recognize which one suits you best. You will discover why boots are a timeless fashion icon, how they are classified, and which stand out for their design, functionality, and aesthetic presence. Standout Boot Types This Season Chelsea Boots: Minimalism and Urban Character Chelsea boots have become one of the most representative models of contemporary style. Their elastic side panels, lack of laces, and firm structure allow for easy wear and a polished look. This type of boot works especially well with casual and urban outfits, as its clean lines bring balance even to bolder looks. The durable, non-slip sole makes them suitable for wearing all winter long, combining them differently each day without sacrificing comfort. Military or Combat Boots: Strength and Versatility Among the types of women’s boots, military boots hold a prominent place due to their functionality and aesthetics. They feature front laces, thick soles, and a robust structure—a design that provides stability, style, and a sense of security that is highly valued during colder months. One of their greatest appeals is their ability to transform a basic look into one with personality. Combat boots pair well with skirts, dresses, or slim-fit trousers, making them a safe bet when you’re looking for durability and style. Knee-High Boots: Streamlined Silhouette and Extra Warmth Knee-high boots are essential when a sophisticated finish is desired. Their design enhances outfits with dresses, skirts, or winter shorts, creating a balanced contrast between warm garments and structured footwear. They cover the leg up to the knee and provide an elegant, uniform line, also acting as an extra layer of warmth and becoming a functional option beyond just design. Casual Ankle Boots: Everyday Comfort Among the different types of boots, ankle boots are one of the broadest categories. They are characterized by reaching ankle height but come in many styles and finishes, from flat to heeled, with zippers, elastic panels, or chunky soles. You can wear them to work, for weekend plans, or even in more formal looks if you choose a minimalist design. Their versatility makes them an essential piece in any wardrobe. Platform Boots: Modern Aesthetic and Extra Height Platform boots add extra height without compromising comfort, making them ideal for modern and bold looks. Their elevated sole distributes foot support more evenly, often making them more comfortable than traditional heels. The platform adds personality and integrates well into outfits seeking a more current and youthful touch. Cowboy-Style Boots: A Renewed Trend Cowboy boots have been among street style favorites for several seasons. Their design, with a slightly pointed toe and characteristic embroidery, brings a bohemian and sophisticated feel. Pairing cowboy boots with flowing dresses or midi skirts creates a balanced and defined style—an excellent option for those looking for distinctive footwear without giving up comfort. Snow or Extreme Winter Boots: Protection Against the Cold Among the types of women’s boots, there are also models specifically designed for low temperatures or adverse weather conditions. Snow boots or winter boots stand out for their non-slip soles, thermal materials, and waterproof finishes. Although their primary function is practical, current fashion has incorporated more aesthetic designs that allow them to be integrated into urban looks without losing their technical character. Which Boots to Choose According to Your Style With so many types of boots available, the choice largely depends on your style and practical needs, as well as the climate of the places you frequent. For urban looks, Chelsea boots or minimalist ankle boots are the best option. If you’re looking for warmth and elegance, knee-high boots fulfill both functions. For those who prioritize comfort without giving up on trends, platform boots and combat boots are very balanced alternatives. Each design offers something distinctive, whether in structure, height, protection, or personality. Choosing wisely helps build a coherent, versatile, and functional wardrobe. Women’s Boot Trends This Season Current trends focus on track soles, synthetic leather finishes, and monochromatic designs. Neutral colors remain the most popular due to their ability to easily integrate into any look. Earth tones, black, and grays dominate the palette, although bold colors are also gaining prominence in more daring designs. Models with elastic details, hidden closures, or reinforced toe caps add a contemporary touch without losing the classic essence of the boot. An Essential Complement in Contemporary Fashion Knowing the different types of women’s boots makes it easier to identify which model best suits each style, need, or context. Boots are a key wardrobe piece that can transform any outfit and provide a perfect balance between functionality and design. From minimalist options to character-driven models, boots continue to be a fundamental category within contemporary urban fashion. Exploring the wide variety of models and variations in materials and finishes available at D.Franklin helps you choose with confidence and build a strong, versatile personal style.

How to Style Winter Dresses with Boots

There are combinations that never fail, and winter dresses with boots have become a classic of contemporary urban style.  The versatility of this combination also represents the perfect balance between comfort, warmth and elegance.  Much more than a trend, this pairing returns every year with new nuances, adapting to any occasion—from a walk around the city to a workday or a weekend plan. As temperatures drop, layering becomes essential, but that doesn’t mean sacrificing style—especially when boots are involved.  Warm fabrics in dresses paired with boots full of personality create a balance between practicality and sophistication.  In this article, get ready to find the ideal formula for combining winter dresses with boots, depending on the dress cut or time of day.  How to combine boots according to winter dress styles  Just as each dress cut has its charm, every boot style brings a different aesthetic—knowing their particularities helps you get the most out of any look.  1. Dresses with Chelsea boots: Urban and minimalist style Chelsea boots are an essential basic when aiming for a clean, modern look.  Their ankle-fitted design and chunky, grippy sole provide visual balance, especially when paired with midi or knit dresses, resulting in a functional outfit that conveys confidence and comfort. Chelsea boots work especially well with straight-cut or slightly oversized dresses, adding structure to the outfit.  Adding a long coat or a leather jacket completes the look with an unmistakable urban and effortless touch. 2. Dresses with high boots: Elegance and warmth If you’re looking for a more sophisticated option, high boots that reach the knee elongate the silhouette and add a refined feel.  They are the perfect boots to pair with short dresses or sweater dresses, as they balance the look and add an extra layer of warmth. To maintain visual harmony, choose neutral tones like black, beige or brown, which create continuity between the boot and the garment, visually lengthening the silhouette. 3. Dresses with mountain-style or chunky boots: Character and contrast Outdoor-inspired or chunky boots have gone from being functional footwear to a key element of street style.  Their robust design pairs perfectly with feminine or flowy dresses, creating a visual contrast that defines a modern, effortless aesthetic. Pairing a floral or boho dress with chunky-sole boots and a padded jacket or shearling coat is one of this winter’s favorite formulas. The best fabrics for winter dresses The key to pairing winter dresses with boots lies in the materials of both pieces.  Since these outfits are worn from late autumn to early spring, the dress fabrics must provide warmth without losing movement. Thick knit: Ideal for casual, relaxed looks. Knit dresses pair perfectly with Chelsea or combat-style boots. Flannel or lightweight wool: Perfect for a more formal or office look. They work well with high or heeled boots. Corduroy or velvet: They add texture and a retro vibe that pairs amazingly with track-sole boots or platform models. The choice of fabric not only influences style but also the durability of the outfit, so it’s important to choose quality materials that maintain their shape and texture throughout the season—for both clothing and footwear. Colors and styles that are trending when combining winter dresses with boots This winter, natural tones and monochrome combinations remain strong, with different shades of green or pink within the same outfit.  The classics are also in the spotlight this season. Beige, grey and brown dominate, accompanied by metallic details or glossy finishes in accessories. If you want a balanced look, pair a beige knit dress with black Chelsea boots; and if you're after a bolder touch, choose a printed dress in olive green and dark tones with brown high boots. Tips for maintaining visual balance in your looks A winter-dress-and-boots outfit works best when there is coherence between proportions and materials. Here are some key aspects to find the perfect balance: Keep the top light if the boots are chunky. If the dress is short, add opaque tights to maintain harmony. Long layers like coats or oversized vests balance the look and add depth. These small adjustments can transform a simple look into a sophisticated one with no effort, just by combining the right winter dress with boots and the right accessories. Urban fashion with winter essence At D.Franklin, chelsea boots, clean-lined coats and functional accessories are part of a collection designed for those who seek style and practicality in equal measure for the coldest days. D.Franklin Studio: Canteo

At D.Franklin Studio, we love sharing our new musical discoveries every month. That’s why today, we’re bringing the spotlight, camera, and microphones to the Madrid-based band Canteo. D.Franklin Studio is a space where musicians can express themselves freely with all their ideas. Mucho Canteo is the result of a match on an app to connect musicians. This four-member Madrid-based band (Gabi, Coke, Jimmy, and George) came together precisely because of how different they are, and today they’re here because they have many songs and an album, “FeLicEs,” to share. With a name that was born from an anecdote between friends and traffic signs, music emerged. Inspired by rock and funk, and with the Red Hot Chili Peppers' soundtrack playing during their rehearsals, Canteo set out to bring what they saw in American rock to Spain, a reinterpretation of pop, just like other artists they admired, such as Natalia Lacunza or Copudo. This is how Canteo was born: contemporary art, very Spanish. Creating tracks that make them jump in that Canteo universe that has that special something. Their lyrics are a snapshot of today’s youth, about getting lost and finding yourself. The trust they place in projects like D.Franklin Studio isn’t just because of the shared values between both, but because of the reach these platforms can offer to a more adult audience. “We don’t know what’s coming, but at least more music, for sure,” says Canteo. Now you can hear their track “5555” on our TAPE by D.Franklin Studio section. Our live session files in VHS format. And because we love knowing everything about our favorite artists (and we know you do too)... We invite you to discover the full interview with Canteo and D.Franklin Studio. How to clean boots properly

How to clean boots properly

Article Index Preparation Before Cleaning Boots How to Clean Leather Boots How to Clean Suede or Split-Leather Boots How to Clean Rubber Boots How to Clean Synthetic Boots How to Clean Hiking Boots Common Mistakes When Cleaning Boots Boots are one of the most versatile and durable types of footwear, suited for winter, the mountains, and urban looks throughout autumn.  However, keeping them in good condition requires care specific to the material.  The way to clean boots changes significantly depending on whether they are leather, suede, split leather, rubber, or synthetic. One wrong step can ruin their texture or shorten their lifespan. That’s why we’ve put together this quick guide to show you how to clean boots by material, which products to use, and which mistakes to avoid.  Preparation Before Cleaning Boots Before applying any product, it’s very important to prepare your footwear for the cleaning process: Remove the laces to access the entire surface. Brush dry to remove dust and surface dirt. Stuff paper inside the boots to help them keep their shape. How to Clean Leather Boots Leather is a hard-wearing material, but it requires regular conditioning to prevent cracking.  It’s important to carry out periodic maintenance that not only cleans the boot but also helps condition the material: Use a damp cloth to remove dirt. Apply a neutral soap or leather-specific cleaner using circular motions. Wipe away any excess with a dry cloth. Condition with leather cream or conditioner. Buff with a soft brush to restore shine. For leather care, remember: Avoid exposing leather boots to direct heat sources. Always store in a ventilated place. How to Clean Suede or Split-Leather Boots Suede and split leather are the most delicate materials and need care that respects their velvety texture, while always avoiding moisture: Gently brush with a suede-specific brush. Use a suede eraser to remove localized stains. For water stains, let them air-dry and brush afterwards. Protect with a suede water-repellent spray. For suede care, remember Do not use water directly on the material. Store in fabric bags to keep dust away. How to Clean Rubber Boots Rubber boots, such as rain boots, are easier to maintain, but they still benefit from dedicated care to keep them in good condition for longer: Rinse with lukewarm water and a neutral soap. Use a soft cloth or sponge to remove dirt. Dry with a clean cloth. Apply a rubber-specific product if you want to restore shine. For rubber care, remember Avoid storing them in direct sunlight. Make sure they are completely dry before putting them away. How to Clean Synthetic Boots Synthetic materials are practical and durable, but they should be cleaned properly to prevent loss of elasticity and cracking: Use lukewarm water mixed with a few drops of neutral soap. Wipe with a soft cloth. Remove any soap residue with a damp cloth. Let them air-dry. For synthetic care, remember Do not use harsh products such as solvents. Avoid excess water on seams and joints. How to Clean Hiking Boots Hiking boots usually combine leather and technical materials, so cleaning should focus on maintaining waterproofing while avoiding damage to leather parts: Remove mud with a stiff brush. Wash with lukewarm water and a soft brush, avoiding harsh detergents. Let them dry at room temperature. Reapply a waterproofing spray before using them again. For hiking-boot care, remember Never dry them on radiators or with a hairdryer. If they get very wet, stuff them with paper to absorb moisture. Common Mistakes When Cleaning Boots Since boots can be worn for an entire season and in different weather conditions, it’s very important to consider the situations that can jeopardize their lifespan: Never use bleach or strong detergents. Do not apply direct heat to speed up drying. Do not submerge boots in water unless they are rubber. Do not store them damp or in unventilated places. A few simple routines help keep boots in good condition for longer: Brush off dust after each wear. Use water-repellent protectors regularly. Store them in cool, dry places, ideally with shoe trees or paper inside. In short, cleaning boots properly is key to extending their lifespan, and it’s essential to follow a maintenance routine suited to the material.  Each boot type requires different care, but the basic steps are always the same: prepare, clean with suitable products, air-dry, and protect. Spending a few minutes on boot cleaning and maintenance prevents permanent damage and ensures they remain a comfortable, hard-wearing ally for any occasion.  With the right care, every D.Franklin boot style will be ready to accompany you every step of the way.

How to clean suede clogs

Table of Contents Understanding the material: What is suede Materials you need before starting Step-by-step: How to clean suede clogs How to handle specific stains Common mistakes when cleaning suede clogs Tips to extend the lifespan of suede clogs Suede is a delicate material that adds elegance and style to any footwear, but it also requires special care when cleaning. A small scuff, a dust stain or a drop of water can permanently alter its appearance if not treated properly. If you own a pair of suede clogs, keeping them spotless is essential to extend their lifespan and preserve their original look. That’s why we’ve gathered some of the simplest techniques to maintain them, the right products to clean them and common mistakes you should avoid. Understanding the material: What is suede Unlike other types of leather, suede has a soft, velvety finish. This texture is achieved by sanding the inner side of the hide, giving it a more delicate look while also making it more vulnerable to dirt, dust and moisture. Suede clogs require a different type of care than polished leather or synthetic materials, using the right products and techniques to prevent permanent damage. Materials you need before starting To clean suede clogs, you’ll need the right tools at hand to make the process easier. Here are the essentials to prepare: Soft-bristle brush or a special suede brush. Suede eraser or a high-quality white eraser. Dry, clean cloth Protective spray specifically for suede. Newspaper or similar to help maintain the shape of the clogs. With these items, you can safely and effectively clean them without risking damage to the surface. Step-by-step: How to clean suede clogs 1. Prepare the footwear Place newspaper or similar inside the clogs — this helps maintain their shape and prevents the interior from getting dirty during the process. The clogs must be completely dry before starting the cleaning process for this method to work. 2. Remove dust and surface dirt Use the suede brush with gentle strokes in a single direction. This helps lift the fibers and remove accumulated dust. Repeat several times until the surface looks even. 3. Treat specific stains If the stain is light, use the suede eraser, applying short, firm strokes over the area — always carefully to avoid excessive friction. For deeper stains, you may need to repeat the process several times until the stain disappears. 4. Restore the suede texture After cleaning, it’s important to gently brush again to restore the velvety look and even out the color. 5. Protect with spray Applying a suede-specific protective spray is crucial to shield the material with an invisible barrier that repels water and dirt, extending the life of the clogs. How to handle specific stains Water stains: Let them dry naturally — never use direct heat. Once dry, brush gently to even out the texture. Grease stains: Apply a bit of talc or cornstarch to the area and let it sit for several hours. Then, brush gently to remove the excess. Mud stains: Wait until completely dry and then brush firmly to remove any residue. Common mistakes when cleaning suede clogs As it is such a delicate material, it’s very important to avoid certain habits to keep your footwear in good condition: Do not apply water directly onto the material. Do not use soaps or detergents, as they can affect the color. Do not expose to heat sources like hairdryers or radiators. Do not store in humid or poorly ventilated places. Tips to extend the lifespan of suede clogs Besides proper cleaning when stains appear, there are simple routines that help keep your clogs looking like new for much longer: Brush them regularly, even if there are no visible stains. Store them in breathable fabric bags to prevent dust. Apply suede protector every few weeks to reinforce the barrier against moisture and dirt. Knowing how to care for them is just as important as knowing how to clean suede clogs, ensuring you get the most out of their lifespan while preserving all their style. With regular brushing, the right products and the correct techniques, you can keep suede footwear in perfect condition effortlessly. Spending just a few minutes on shoe care improves their appearance while also preventing the need to replace them prematurely. Your D.Franklin suede clogs, with the right maintenance, will always be ready to accompany you with comfort and elegance.

Cuando es black friday

When is Black Friday 2025?

Even though it’s one of the most important dates in the shopping calendar, the exact day changes every year—and many stores even decide to set their own timing. So, when is Black Friday this year? Just like during sales season, millions of people wait for this day to score discounts on clothing, footwear, technology, and accessories. What makes it interesting is that, although it officially takes place in November, Black Friday is more than just a single day. Around it, retailers organize entire promotional campaigns that extend shopping opportunities. That’s why knowing the exact date helps plan your purchases ahead of time, making the most of the deals from your favorite brands and ensuring you don’t miss out on the best offers. In this article, we’ll tell you when Black Friday takes place, its origin, why it has become a global phenomenon, and how to take full advantage of it. What day is Black Friday in 2025? Black Friday 2025 will be on Friday, November 28. As a general rule, it always falls on the day after the fourth Thursday of November, right after Thanksgiving in the United States. This means the date shifts slightly each year, but it always stays within the last weekend of November. And while Friday is the official shopping day, most brands stretch their promotions across several days, creating what’s now known as “Black Week.” The origin of Black Friday Black Friday began in the United States as a retail strategy to boost sales right after Thanksgiving. It gained popularity in the 1960s, when stores started offering special discounts to attract consumers at the start of the holiday shopping season. Over time, the concept went international, becoming a global event. Today, it’s known less for early holiday shopping and more as a chance to refresh your wardrobe or grab that tech upgrade you’ve been waiting for. Now, brands in fashion, technology, home décor, and even food use the event to launch their best deals and bring in new customers. How Black Friday is experienced in Spain In Spain, Black Friday has become a key date for both online and physical retail. From big chains to small local shops, businesses take advantage of the event to boost sales and clear out seasonal products. Because it’s so close to Cyber Monday—which is more tech-focused—fashion and footwear take the spotlight during Black Friday. Shoppers use the opportunity to refresh their wardrobe with pieces they can wear throughout the season or give as Christmas gifts. Strategies to make the most of Black Friday Plan ahead Knowing when Black Friday takes place allows you to create a list of what you truly need. With a detailed shopping list, you’ll avoid impulse buys and focus on what really matters. Compare prices Discounts are attractive, but not all are equally worthwhile. Checking important details like product quality, size and color availability, and other specifics before purchasing ensures a smarter buy. Turn on alerts from your favorite brands Top labels, such as D.Frankin, often release exclusive collections or limited editions during Black Friday. Subscribing to newsletters or following their social channels gives you early access to advantages before anyone else. This means purchases made on this date not only save money but can also become early gifts or festive outfits for December celebrations.
